Don't Go It Alone

Today’s blog is a heavy but necessary one. If you have paid any attention to the news this month you have seen the alarming coverage on suicide. Just this month we have learned of the untimely deaths of:

· Cheslie Kryst, former Miss USA

· Peter Robbins, the voice of Charlie Brown

· Actress Regina King’s son, Ian Alexander Jr. and

· Moses J. Moseley, an American actor, writer, and model

These are just the names that the media has shared. There are so many more people that remain nameless that have decided that they no longer want to live.

Statistically, in our nation:

· 1 person commits suicide every 11 minutes

· 1 in every 3 adults is depressed and

· Over 12 million people have seriously considered suicide

Y’all this is troubling! The first thing we must acknowledge is this is a demonic spirit. If we are going to fight, we have to know what we are up against. The bible is clear. We have a real enemy. “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10) The bible also lets us know the we are in a spiritual battle. Ephesians 6:12 reads, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." The good news is we have a loving God who doesn’t condemn us but desires for us to come to Him with every aspect of our lives. "Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.” (Ps. 55:22)

If you are in despair, there is no shame! Don’t go this alone! Don’t isolate yourself and please reach out to someone that you can trust. Remember that God is not out of reach for you, just call on Him. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” (Ps. 34:18-19)

Lastly, I want you to remember that God has a beautiful plan for your life and there is always hope in Him. “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jer. 29:11)

Be encouraged and know that I am praying for you. Let’s continue to pray for one another. We never know what a person is struggling with.

Humbly Submitted,

Shindy
